Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corey Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Josef Smejkal!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Smejkal counters with a takedown into side control.

Smejkal is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Miller is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Miller is looking to regain half guard here but Smejkal keeps moving and retains side control.

Smejkal working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Miller is pushing Smejkal's head away, looking to escape. Smejkal manages to hold on to the position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smejkal wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Miller, who protects the arm well.

Smejkal tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Smejkal thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Miller can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smejkal tries for a kimura but Miller is defending well.
Smejkal scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Miller to see if he's OK.
Miller is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Smejkal asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Miller is trying to control Smejkal's posture but Smejkal avoids it.

Smejkal looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Smejkal looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Smejkal lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Miller down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Smejkal tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smejkal has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Miller is trying to improve his position.
Miller pushes Smejkal away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Smejkal gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Miller is looking to reverse the position.

Smejkal thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Smejkal goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Miller rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Smejkal's guard! Nice work there by Miller!
Smejkal looks winded!
Miller throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smejkal works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Miller tries to stand but Smejkal is controlling from the bottom.
Miller slips nicely into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Miller is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Smejkal sees it coming and defends easily.
Miller not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Smejkal gets back to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smejkal is on top in guard.

Smejkal throws a big elbow that misses.
Smejkal won't allow Miller to sweep him here.
Smejkal tries to free his leg and advance position but Miller is retaining full guard.
Smejkal landing some decent shots from guard.

Smejkal drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smejkal jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Smejkal thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Miller is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Smejkal frees his head nicely. Oh but Miller has switched to an armbar! Smejkal is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Corey Miller!
A relieved looking Corey Miller thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
