The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sims shoots for a takedown but Boneham saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sims lands a jab to Boneham's midsection.

Biff Boneham has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wes Sims.
Sims avoids the body shot from Boneham.

Boneham bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Boneham grinds an elbow into Sims's temple.
Boneham has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sims takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Sims is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Sims is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Boneham asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sims is not content to let Boneham control the position.

Boneham scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Sims to see if he's OK.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boneham is looking to take a break and control but Sims is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
