Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Bird (ranked 698 p4p, 352 weight class) and Ryszard Wojcik (ranked 102 p4p, 46 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryszard Wojcik!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Bird, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Wojcik! But no joy.
Wojcik misses with a jab to the body

and Bird counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wojcik won't be happy with that.
Wojcik tries to improve position but can't.
Wojcik tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Bird presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Bird avoids the attempt from Wojcik to control.
Bird seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Wojcik is holding on tight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bird is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Wojcik has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Bird seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

You can see the frustration on Wojcik's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Wojcik wants to control his opponent's hands but Bird gets his hands free.
Wojcik might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bird haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
