PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Allen (ranked 4713 p4p, 4464 weight class) and Damian Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez has chosen Rainbow in the dark by -DIO as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damian Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Steve Montenegro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen throws a jab when Sanchez was well out of range.
Allen fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Allen with a poor takedown
and Sanchez counters with a low kick, right behind Allen 's knee.
Allen moves out of range as Sanchez throws a body kick.
Sanchez throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Allen moves into range and clinches up with Sanchez.
Sanchez tries to break free but Allen pushes him back against the cage.
Sanchez tries to circle away but Allen has him pinned against the cage.
Allen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Allen lands a shot to the body.
Sanchez is trying to push Allen away but Allen has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Allen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Allen drives through and clinches with Sanchez against the cage.

Allen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Allen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Allen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sanchez, pushing him back against the cage.

Sanchez tries to break the clinch but Allen is controlling the position.
Allen is pushing Sanchez up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Sanchez prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Allen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Allen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sanchez connects with a looping right hand.
A nice inside leg kick there by Sanchez. That's going to slow Allen down.
Sanchez fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Allen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sanchez throws a predictable looking body shot

Sanchez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Allen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Allen jumps guard and drags Sanchez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Allen wriggles free and stands up.

Sanchez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Allen. That did some damage!
Damian Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanchez throws the kick towards the body but Allen avoids it.

and Allen counters by moving into the clinch.

Allen manages to break the clinch.
Allen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Sanchez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Allen goes for a double leg but Sanchez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sanchez continues to drive forward.
Sanchez wants to get back to striking at distance but Allen won't allow it.

Allen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Allen ducks right into an uppercut from Sanchez.
Sanchez lands with a hook. Allen tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Sanchez misses with a body kick.
Allen blocks a head kick by Sanchez.
Sanchez cracks Allen with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Sanchez throws a right and a left that Allen avoids nicely.
A nice leg kick lands there from Sanchez.

Allen instigates a clinch.
Allen is looking to take this one to the mat.
Sanchez tries to break free but Allen pushes him back against the cage.
Allen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Sanchez swings for the body but Allen moves out of range.

Sanchez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
No luck for Allen with that takedown attempt.
Allen is breathing heavily.
Allen takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sanchez misses with the combination.
Allen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sanchez looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Allen slips a jab and a cross from Sanchez.
Sanchez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Allen takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Allen shoots in but Sanchez avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Damian Sanchez will probably get the nod.
That's time! Allen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sanchez connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Allen shoots for a takedown but Sanchez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Allen moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromSanchez.
Sanchez lands a nice hook to Allen's body. Allen takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Allen drives through and clinches with Sanchez against the cage.

Allen pulls guard effortlessly.
Allen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Sanchez looking to sit in guard and control but Allen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Allen slips nicely into half guard.
Sanchez trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Allen manages to pass to mount!

Allen is persistently looking for the submission but Sanchez is defending it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Allen has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Sanchez has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Sanchez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Allen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sanchez has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Allen.

I really don't envy Sanchez right now.

Allen is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

What can Sanchez do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jack Allen.
