PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Idi Amin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fejha Kurko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Idi Amin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fejha Kurko!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurko tries to close the distance and clinch up but Amin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Amin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kurko tries to avoid it but Amin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kurko to the ground. Kurko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kurko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Amin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kurko doesn't manage to clinch there - Amin circles away.
Amin throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kurko.
Amin looks to land a combination but Kurko avoids it well.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kurko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kurko wants to clinch up but Amin keeps it at a distance.
Kurko checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Kurko darts in and clinches Amin up against the cage.
Kurko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Kurko fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kurko drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Amin is pressed up against the cage. Kurko has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Amin down to the mat. Amin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Amin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kurko moves away.
Amin throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Kurko tumbling to the canvas!


Kurko is rocked!


It looks like Fejha Kurko has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kurko looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kurko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Amin's guard.
Kurko throwing strikes from guard but Amin blocks nicely.
Amin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kurko is controlling him.

Amin seems keen to control Kurko's posture.
Amin is looking to stand up but Kurko isn't so interested in that idea.
Kurko content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Kurko with a flurry of punches that miss.
Kurko missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kurko passes Amin's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kurko tries to pass the half guard into mount. Amin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kurko lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Amin is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kurko scores with a couple of nice shots.

Kurko takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Amin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Kurko is pressing down on Amin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Amin is holding on for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kurko thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Amin's head.
Kurko is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Amin wants to get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kurko tries to clinch up but Amin circles away and keeps his distance.

Amin closes the distance and pushes Kurko back into the cage.
Amin is trying to break the clinch but Kurko has him pressed against the cage.
Kurko jumps guard but Amin stands there with Kurko around his waist. Kurko gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Idi Amin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fejha Kurko.

Amin breaks the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Amin clinches up with Kurko and pushes him back against the cage.
Kurko can't get the takedown.
Kurko wants to get back to striking at distance but Amin won't allow it.
Kurko drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Amin gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Idi Amin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fejha Kurko.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Amin takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Amin gets underhooks to prevent Kurko's takedown attempt.
Kurko is breathing heavily.

Amin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Amin takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Amin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kurko moves away.

Amin clinches up with Kurko and pushes him back against the cage.
Kurko drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Amin gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Amin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kurko.

Amin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kurko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kurko closes this distance looking for a takedown but Amin circles away.
Idi Amin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Amin catches Kurko with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!


That has opened up Fejha Kurko's cut even more.
Idi Amin is winning the standup battle so far.
Amin tries to bum rush Kurko with a series of wild strikes but Kurko uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kurko avoids the body shot from Amin.
Kurko keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Amin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kurko keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Amin.
Kurko tries to clinch there but Amin circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kurko tries to clinch
and Amin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kurko keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Amin tries to clinch there but Kurko circles away.
Amin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Amin rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kurko moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kurko avoids the body shot from Amin.

Amin fails with the takedown.
Nice combo by Amin! Oh, that's hurt him - Kurko falls to the canvas and Amin follows him into side control.
Kurko is still in real trouble! Can Amin finish him?


The cut above Fejha Kurko's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Amin content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Kurko seems to have recovered his senses.
Amin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Amin wants to stand but Kurko is controlling his arm.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kurko manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kurko works his foot free and advances to mount.
Kurko throwing strikes but Amin bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Kurko avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Amin misses with a two punch combination.
Amin missing with a left hand there. Kurko was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Amin misses with a wild body shot.
Amin clobbers Kurko with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Amin fails to land with a series of punches.
Amin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Amin throws a low kick but Kurko avoids it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kurko ducks right into an uppercut from Amin.


Fejha Kurko's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Kurko looks to clinch
and Amin counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Kurko off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Amin follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Kurko was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Idi Amin!
