Malverde is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by El Rey. Jesus Malverde is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malverde keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Malverde misses with a double jab.
Malverde misses with a straight left.
Malverde misses with a few strikes there.
Mills lands a left and a right that sends Malverde crashing to the canvas! Mills dives into mount looking to finish!


Malverde is rocked!


It looks like Jesus Malverde has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mills is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Malverde has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Mills has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Malverde has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Malverde breaks Mills's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Malverde wants to stand but Mills has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Malverde must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mills is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Malverde dives into side control.
Mills is looking to reverse the position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Malverde grinds an elbow into Mills's temple.

The fighters are battling for position here. Mills manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Malverde looking to sit in guard and control but Mills gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Malverde wants to control the position but Mills says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Malverde looks like he's trying to stand up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Malverde tries to roll over but Mills keeps him under control.
Mills missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Malverde wants to get back to his feet.

Mills is looking for a kimura but Malverde is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mills to get the leverage.

Mills is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Malverde to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mills tries to free his leg and advance position but Malverde is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mills swinging wilding here.
Mills thows a left - swing and a miss!
Malverde is looking to clinch but Mills is avoiding it.
Malverde throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mills connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Malverde momentarily.

Malverde drives through and clinches with Mills against the cage.
Mills scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Mills is struggling to control the position.
Mills wants to break the clinch but can't.

Malverde breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Malverde throws out a loose jab but Mills uses good head movement to avoid it.
Mills slips a jab and a cross from Malverde.
Mills works over Malverde's head and body with a nice combination.
Mills throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Malverde sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Malverde throws a series of punches but Mills avoids them all with ease.

Malverde throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mills's waist but Mills gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Malverde off to one side.
Malverde is breathing heavily.
Decent striking displayed by Mills there.
Mills misses with a combination

and Malverde counters by moving into the clinch.

Malverde breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Malverde drops his hands momentarily and Mills takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Mills scores with a nice head shot.
Malverde throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mills.

Malverde fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mills sprawls well initially but Malverde persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Mills manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Mills throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Malverde fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mills, pushing him back against the cage.
Mills wants to break free but Malverde has control.
Mills is pressed up against the cage. Malverde has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mills down to the mat. Mills avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Malverde moves out of range as Mills strikes.
Harrison Mills seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Malverde takes the fight into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Malverde tries to break the clinch but Mills is controlling the position.
Mills wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Malverde has him pressed against the cage.
Malverde throws a knee to the head but misses.
Malverde tries to score a body lock takedown but Mills shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Harrison Mills has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesus Malverde.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Malverde keeps control of Mills as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Mills is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Mills wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Malverde creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Mills tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Malverde is trying to land a reversal but Mills doesn't like that idea too much. He pushed the legs to the side and dives into side control. He's managed to grab a loose arm triangle. Mills is tightening it up though! This could be trouble for Malverde! Malverde trying desperately to escape but he's gone limp! He's out! Wooooorld class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Mills!
