Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Akechi Yamato (ranked 5242 p4p, 5343 weight class) and Alexander Magnus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akechi Yamato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alexander Magnus!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Magnus closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Magnus gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Yamato.
Yamato changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Magnus fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Magnus rushes Yamato and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Yamato's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Magnus closes this distance looking for a takedown but Yamato circles away.

Magnus wants to get back to striking at distance but Yamato won't allow it.

Magnus tries to score a body lock takedown but Yamato shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Akechi Yamato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Magnus.
Magnus is pressed up against the cage. Yamato has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Magnus down to the mat. Magnus avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Magnus shoots in for a double leg but Yamato sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
We've been hearing reports that Yamato has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Yamato on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

It looks like Akechi Yamato has been cut.
Magnus tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yamato swivels and escapes.
Magnus tries a head kick but it misses.
Yamato half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

and Yamato counters with a single leg into guard. Magnus didn't expect that.

Yamato sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Magnus's guard.

Yamato is trying to work for a kimura but Magnus is defending well.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Yamato's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Yamato wants to take a breather but Magnus is having none of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Magnus tries to get to full guard but Yamato has control of the leg.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

Magnus is defending against the submission attempts here by Yamato.
Magnus is looking to improve his position.

Magnus throws a shot to the body.
Yamato throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Magnus's waist but Magnus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Yamato off to one side.
Yamato sets himself, and Magnus steps forward looking for the clinch! Yamato avoids it this time.
Magnus is looking to clinch but Yamato is avoiding it.

Magnus takes the fight into the clinch.
Magnus has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Yamato after a bit of a struggle.

Yamato pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Yamato keeps control of Magnus as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Magnus misses with a takedown attempt - Yamato sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Alexander Magnus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Magnus closes the distance and clinches up with Yamato, looking for a takedown. Magnus pushes Yamato against the cage but Yamato circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Yamato wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Akechi Yamato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Magnus.
Yamato slaps away a takedown attempt from Magnus, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Yamato breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Yamato is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Magnus can do to turn this around?

Magnus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yamato tries to avoid it but Magnus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yamato to the ground. Yamato escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Yamato appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Yamato shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Magnus napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Yamato wants to lay and pray for a moment but Magnus keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yamato stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Magnus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Yamato circles away quickly and effectively.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Yamato is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Magnus's half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yamato is trying to drag Magnus to the mat but Magnus just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Magnus throws a knee to the head but misses.
Magnus jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Yamato walks away with a smile on his face. Magnus gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Magnus tries to clinch but Yamato is having none of it.
Yamato was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Yamato is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Alexander Magnus seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Yamato lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Magnus has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Yamato is working away from the top position though.

Yamato is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Magnus shoots in looking for a takedown. Yamato tries to sprawl out of it but Magnus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yamato manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

And that's the end of the fight!
Akechi Yamato showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Yamato, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
