The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gremlin on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Shaw looks to land a combination but Gremlin avoids it well.

Gremlin has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Gremlin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shaw did well to prevent Gremlin getting side control.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Gremlin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gremlin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gremlin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shaw's guard.

Gremlin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Shaw tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gremlin is in Shaw's guard.

Gremlin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gremlin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gremlin is pressing down on Shaw's thigh, looking to free his foot. Shaw is holding on for now.
Gremlin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Let's hope that Gremlin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Gremlin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Shaw is in trouble now - Gremlin has advanced to mount!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gremlin is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Gremlin extends the arm and Shaw is forced to tap!
