PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darrin Bunich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Noel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Darrin Bunich has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Darrin Bunich seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Darrin Bunich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan Noel!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Noel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bunich moves away.
Noel circles away from the clinch attempt.
Noel has a takedown stuffed.
Noel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bunich stuffs the takedown attempt from Noel. Noel gets slowly back to his feet.
Darrin Bunich has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Noel.
Bunich throws a series of punches but Noel avoids them all with ease.
Bunich is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Noel shoots in for a double leg but Bunich sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Noel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bunich tries to score with a low kick but Noel moves his leg out of the way.

Bunich is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Noel doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bunich.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Noel pushes Bunich off looking to stand but Bunich dives back in and keeps control.

Noel changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bunich looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Noel is looking to take a break and control but Bunich is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Noel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bunich knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bunich forces Noel back against the cage and clinches.

Bunich pushes off an throws an elbow but Noel leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Noel throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Noel controls Bunich momentarily but Bunich frees himself.

Noel is working an open guard so Bunich takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Bunich counters with a shoot takedown. Noel fights it but they end up in guard.

Noel isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Bunich stacks Noel on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Bunich!
Noel is looking to regain half guard here but Bunich keeps moving and retains side control.
Noel is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Noel doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Bunich counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bunich is standing up over Noel. Noel looks to escape but Bunich dives into side control.

Bunich scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Noel is looking for a way out.
Noel rolls, trying to escape but Bunich keeps control of the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Bunich closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Bunich thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Noel to regain full guard.
Noel throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Well Bunich has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
