The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Irwin pushes Sanchez up against the cage in a clinch.
Irwin has Sanchez pressed against the cage, preventing Sanchez from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Irwin wants a takedown.

Sanchez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A jab from Sanchez does it's job there.

It looks like Ired Irwin has been cut.

Irwin moves into the clinch.
We've been informed that Irwin has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Irwin blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Irwin is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Sanchez is defending well.

Irwin tries for a takedown but Sanchez manages to get underhooks.
Damian Sanchez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ired Irwin.
Irwin lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Sanchez wants to stall.
Sanchez has had enough of the clinch but Irwin keeps him there for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanchez is trying to force a seperation but Irwin has the dominant position.
The referee calls for Irwin to work.
Sanchez is looking to break free of the clinch but Irwin has double underhooks.
Sanchez can't find room to land a body shot as Irwin controls the action.

Irwin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A left lands for Sanchez.
Irwin sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Sanchez lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Sanchez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Sanchez throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Sanchez jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Irwin is rocked!
Sanchez connects with a body shot that sends Irwin's belly button to the back.
Irwin is still on wobbly legs! Can Sanchez finish him?
Irwin takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Irwin gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Damian Sanchez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sanchez fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Irwin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Irwin seems to have recovered his senses.
Decent striking displayed by Sanchez there.
Sanchez scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Damian Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Irwin takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Sanchez connects with an inside leg kick.
Sanchez swings and misses with a hook to the body.
It seemed like Irwin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Sanchez lands a big head kick that sends Irwin tumbling to the mat! Sanchez takes a step backwards and waves Irwin back to his feet - he wants the finish!
