Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mika Heining (ranked 4915 p4p, 23789 weight class) and Tony Stat (ranked 559 p4p, 652 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mika Heining!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Stat!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stat gets tackled into the cage by Heining. Heining maintains the clinch.
Stat tries to circle away but Heining has him pinned against the cage.

Heining has Stat pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Heining pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Stat tumbling to the mat - Heining dives into Stat's guard.
Stat is wriggling around but Heining manages to pass to half guard.
Heining seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Heining lands a nice short elbow.
Heining is nestled in close to Stat, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Heining is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stat is just riding it out for now. Heining eventually gives up the hold.
Stat wants to get back to his feet.

Still in half guard, Heining seems content to control.
Stat is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Heining scores with a couple of nice shots.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stat scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Heining manages to mount him!
Stat is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Heining scoring with strikes but Stat is staying in there.

Heining is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Stat has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Stat!
Heining has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Stat tries to stand but Heining is controlling from the bottom.

Heining throws his legs up looking for a submission but Stat uses it to pass to side control.
Stat wants to stand but Heining is controlling his arm.
Heining gets back to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Heining is looking for a sweep. Stat is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Heining is looking to control Stat's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Heining avoid being mounted?
Heining wants to get back to full guard but Stat has passed into side control.
Heining wants to control but Stat postures up.
Heining tries to bench press Stat off him but Stat keeps the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Stat wants to stand but Heining has his arm trapped.
Heining controls the position for a moment.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!

Stat lands a slapping body shot.
A punch combination from Stat misses.

Heining has managed to clinch.
Stat is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Heining is trying to pull guard but Stat turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Heining has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Stat is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Stat wants to break free but Heining has control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Heining goes for a takedown attempt but Stat pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Heining throws a sloppy head kick
and Stat connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Heining fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Stat is out of range.

Stat is trying to break free.

Heining manages to break the clinch.

Heining rushes Stat and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Stat has had enough of the clinch but Heining keeps him there for the moment.
Stat is trying to force a seperation but Heining has the dominant position.

Heining is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Stat can't fight it off and eventually Heining manages to take the fight to the floor. Stat looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Stat is wriggling around but Heining manages to pass to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Heining is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stat really wants to buck Heining off and get back to his feet.
Heining is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stat can do to turn this around?

Heining scoring with strikes but Stat is staying in there.

Heining takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Heining landing punches.
Heining lands a couple of good shots and Stat has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Stat is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Heining is punishing Stat with some ground and pound.
Stat wants to get back to his feet.
Stat is taking damage to the body and head.

Heining has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Can Stat hold on?! Heining is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Heining is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
I would not like to be Stat right now.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mika Heining dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Heining shoots and misses
letting Stat counter with a right hand.
Stat checks a low kick from Heining.
Stat unleashes a big counter combination but Heining bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Stat throws a series of strikes that have Heining backpedaling.
Stat throws a right and a left that both miss.
Stat misses with a double jab

and Heining counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Heining ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Heining no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Stat wants to get up but he can't break Heining's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Heining looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Stat trying to stand up but can't free himself from Heining's guard.
Heining will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Stat wants to stand and escape but instead Heining has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Heining lands a couple of elbows.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Heining gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Stat uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Stat swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Heining.
Heining with a lazy takedown attempt
and Stat cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Heining drives through with a takedown into Stat's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Heining cracks Stat with a solid left hand.
Heining in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Heining prevents Stat from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Heining stays in close to Stat's body and controls the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Heining gets a clinch.

Heining turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Heining manages to end up in side control.
Stat taking punishment in the form of punches.
Heining has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Heining prevents Stat from escaping the position.
Heining just content to control the position.

Heining decides to stand up, so the ref orders Stat to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Heining has managed to clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mika Heining showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Heining, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
