PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Perez (ranked 4299 p4p, 4420 weight class) and Vale Rossi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Miguel Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vale Rossi!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rossi gets caught flat footed, as Perez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Perez wants to control from the top but Rossi keeps moving.
Rossi is looking to sweep but instead, Perez has passed into half guard.
Rossi trying to hold on to Perez's head to control him but Perez postures up.

Perez seems to be working for a kimura but Rossi defends the submission attempt.
Rossi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Perez is trying to control the action in half guard but Rossi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Perez throws a head kick that misses.
Perez takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Rossi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Perez on his heels. He'll look to pass Perez's guard now, I'm sure.

Perez has his feet on Rossi's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Perez tries to sprawl but Rossi drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rossi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Rossi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close round but I would say that Miguel Perez will probably get the nod.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Perez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rossi on his heels. He'll look to pass Rossi's guard now, I'm sure.
Perez is looking to pass into half guard but Rossi pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Rossi is in guard.


Rossi gets to his feet - Perez follows without any prompting.
Perez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Rossi counters with a left to the body.

Perez gets caught napping as Rossi dives in and scores a takedown. Perez manages to retain guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Vale Rossi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Rossi gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Rossi is trying to pull guard but Perez turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Perez is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Rossi can't fight it off and eventually Perez manages to take the fight to the floor. Rossi looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Perez half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Rossi manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Perez keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Rossi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rossi is pushing down on Perez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Perez is fighting to maintain full guard but Rossi has managed to sneak the leg through.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rossi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Perez sprawls well initially but Rossi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Vale Rossi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rossi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
