PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Cabrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Styles Of Beyond- Nine Thou. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cabrera shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jackson is looking to clinch.
Jackson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jackson circles away from the clinch attempt
and Jackson counters with a two punch combo.
Cabrera tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jackson swivels and escapes.

Cabrera shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jackson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Cabrera escapes and throws Jackson's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cabrera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cabrera lets loose with a powerful body kick. Jackson will feel that in the morning.

Jackson is pressed up against the cage. Cabrera has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jackson down to the mat. Jackson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Cabrera. That's going to take a lot out of him.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A head kick misses from Jackson.
Jackson tries to bum rush Cabrera with a series of wild strikes but Cabrera uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Cabrera misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jackson thumps Cabrera with a low kick.
Jackson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cabrera pinned against the cage. Cabrera gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cabrera bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jackson can't do much from the bottom here.

Cabrera has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Cabrera is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

David Cabrera dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Cabrera lands a jab to the nose.
Jackson throws a lazy head kick
and Cabrera counters with a slapping leg kick.
Cabrera is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Jackson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cabrera can pounce on him.

Jackson has his foot on Cabrera's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cabrera works his way back into a safe position though.

Cabrera drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cabrera jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jackson wants to sweep here but Cabrera controlling him for the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jackson shoots in and drives through. Cabrera sprawls well.

Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Cabrera moves out of range.
Cabrera tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jackson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Cabrera counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jackson won't be happy with that.

Jackson seems a little lost for a moment, as Cabrera dominates the positioning.

Jackson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Jackson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cabrera off and has taken his back!
David Cabrera is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jackson has the hooks in. Cabrera is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cabrera wants to control his opponent's hands but Jackson gets his hands free.

Jackson is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Cabrera is defending well though. Jackson let's go of the attempt for now.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cabrera, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
