PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Litran Kossu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arilius Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kossu comes to the cage accompanied by Holy Diver. Arilius Maximus acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kossu looks for a takedown but Maximus sprawls well.

Kossu darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Kossu looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kossu checks a low kick from Maximus.
Maximus throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kossu.
Kossu fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kossu tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kossu steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Maximus.
A punch lands to the side of Kossu 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Maximus scores with a one two! Kossu had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Kossu forces Maximus back against the cage and clinches.
Maximus tries for a takedown but Kossu manages to get underhooks.

Kossu jumps into guard, dragging Maximus to the mat.
Kossu manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Kossu goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Maximus is on top in guard.

Kossu manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maximus manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kossu has his foot on Maximus's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maximus works his way back into a safe position though.

Kossu escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maximus gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Maximus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kossu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's time! Kossu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Maximus throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kossu stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Kossu drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kossu drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Maximus dives on top into guard.

Kossu wriggles free and stands up.
Kossu throws an overhand right that lands on Maximus's shoulder, as Maximus tries to avoid the shot.
Kossu is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kossu shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maximus but Maximus pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Maximus lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kossu has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kossu and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kossu walks into a straight right hand from Maximus.
Kossu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maximus's waist but Maximus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kossu off to one side.

Maximus throws a right hand that Kossu ducks under and follows up with a left that Kossu also avoids with ease.
Arilius Maximus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kossu looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Litran Kossu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kossu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Maximus paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Maximus dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kossu. That did some damage!

That was a close second round but I would say that Litran Kossu will probably get the nod.

Litran Kossu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
