Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deontologicus Smiff (ranked 3484 p4p, 3273 weight class) and Brock Resnar (ranked 418 p4p, 394 weight class). Brock Resnar will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Deontologicus Smiff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brock Resnar!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Resnar fails in his attempt to clinch.
Smiff jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Smiff shoots in and gets a takedown into Resnar's guard.

Smiff drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smiff jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Smiff pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Resnar is keeping the position for now.
Smiff definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Resnar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smiff slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smiff lands a couple of elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smiff is pushing down on Resnar's leg trying to pass to half guard. Resnar is fighting to maintain full guard but Smiff has managed to sneak the leg through.
Smiff looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Smiff seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Smiff is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Resnar defends it well.

Smiff wants to work for an arm triangle but Resnar is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Resnar has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Resnar has eaten all the pies!

Smiff is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Resnar defends it well.
Resnar is in trouble now - Smiff has advanced to mount!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smiff cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Smiff scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Smiff is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Resnar can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Smiff breaks from Resnar's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Smiff has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smiff cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Smiff lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Smiff landing punches.

Smiff is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Resnar is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Resnar flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Smiff anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Resnar and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Smiff slips an arm under Resnar chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Smiff has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Smiff is squeezing on Resnar like an anaconda would it's prey. Resnar fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Deontologicus Smiff!
In his post fight interview, Deontologicus Smiff started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
