Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deontay DJ (ranked 2060 p4p, 3431 weight class) and Earnie Shavers (ranked 258 p4p, 417 weight class). DJ's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Lil Scrappy - No Problem. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Earnie Shavers was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DJ blocks a leg kick.
Nice uppercut there from DJ.
Shavers tries to clinch but DJ moves out of range.
Shavers moves forwards but DJ connects with a nice, crisp jab.

DJ lands a big head kick that sends Shavers tumbling to the mat! DJ takes a step backwards and waves Shavers back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Earnie Shavers has been cut.
A low kick lands for DJ.

and Shavers counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Shavers looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Shavers takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Shavers tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. DJ manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Shavers looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Shavers throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
DJ moves in looking to clinch but Shavers pushes him off.

DJ rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shavers moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

DJ looks to land a combination but Shavers avoids it well.

Shavers lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
DJ tries to clinch up.

and Shavers counters by moving into the clinch.
I was talking to DJ's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Shavers throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Shavers goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
DJ looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

DJ's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
DJ throws a sloppy head kick and Shavers moves out of range easily.
Shavers tries to counter by closing the distance.

DJ gets tackled into the cage by Shavers. Shavers maintains the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

DJ breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
DJ throws a series of punches but Shavers avoids them all with ease.
Shavers doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
A head kick misses from DJ.
Shavers looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Shavers wants to clinch up but DJ keeps it at a distance.
DJ lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Shavers at a distance.
DJ throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Shavers! But no joy.
DJ misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The fighters circling - Shavers throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
DJ takes a swing at Shavers's ribcage but misses.
DJ backing away here, and Shavers unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

Oooooh!!! DJ has knocked Shavers down with a huge combo! DJ steps away and waves a wobbly Shavers back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Deontay DJ is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
DJ misses with the combination.
DJ wants to slow Shavers down by chopping away at his legs.
DJ throws a sloppy head kick and Shavers moves out of range easily.
Some wild striking there from Shavers.
Shavers tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but DJ was well out of range. Poor timing from Shavers.
Nice uppercut lands for Shavers. That snapped DJ's head back.

DJ drives through and clinches with Shavers against the cage.

DJ tries to circle away but Shavers has him pinned against the cage.
Shavers's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Shavers swings away with an uppercut that misses.
DJ blocks a body shot from Shavers.

DJ has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Shavers pushes DJ back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

DJ breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
DJ misses with an attempted mid kick.
Shavers takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Crack! A monster head kick from DJ and Shavers falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by DJ!
