PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonardo De Vinci (ranked 2753 p4p, 2907 weight class) and James Murray (ranked 360 p4p, 376 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonardo De Vinci!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Murray!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murray is looking to clinch but De Vinci is avoiding it.
An attempted straight right counter from De Vinci misses the target.
A swing and a miss from De Vinci.
A cross from De Vinci lands.

It looks like James Murray has been cut.
Murray throws a head kick that misses.

Oh, that's a big right hand from De Vinci and Murray goes tumbling to the canvas! De Vinci follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.

Murray is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Murray tries to get to full guard but De Vinci has control of the leg.
Murray is still in real trouble! Can De Vinci finish him?
Murray is still trying to improve position.
Murray seems to have recovered his senses.

De Vinci decides to stand and escape the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

De Vinci drops Murray with a big left hand and mounts him. Murray is in big trouble!
Murray wants to control but De Vinci is having none of it.
Murray tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Murray holds on to De Vinci around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.
De Vinci trying to control but Murray is having none of it.
Murray tries to hold on but De Vinci postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Murray can't escape the position.
Murray wants to control but De Vinci is having none of it.
Murray is looking to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Murray is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Murray keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Murray wants to hold on but De Vinci pushes him away.

De Vinci stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
De Vinci throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Murray throws out a counter right but De Vinci avoids it with no problem.
De Vinci stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

That has opened up James Murray's cut even more.
De Vinci takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
A jab from De Vinci misses.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

De Vinci catches Murray napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Murray to the canvas!

De Vinci stands and steps away. Murray gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
De Vinci lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Murray head around and knocks him out cold! De Vinci hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Leonardo De Vinci!
Our winner, Leonardo De Vinci, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
