PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mitsuyo Maeda (ranked 4515 p4p, 4505 weight class) and Christian Blake (ranked 0 p4p, 476 weight class). Maeda comes to the cage accompanied by Jiu Jitsu: La Leyenda de Mitsuyo Maeda. Christian Blake will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Christian Blake!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blake manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Maeda on his heels. He'll look to pass Maeda's guard now, I'm sure.
Maeda being controlled here, momentarily.
Maeda might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Maeda is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Maeda is looking to advance position but Blake won't allow it.
Blake keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maeda wants to free his trapped foot but Blake is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Maeda is trying to work for a kimura but Blake is defending well.
Maeda wants to pass the guard but Blake is defending well.

Blake is in trouble now - Maeda has advanced to mount!
Blake has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Blake trying to control the position but Maeda manages to sink in the hooks.

Maeda working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Blake is doing well to defend. Maeda seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Blake is forced to tap and this one is over!

A relieved looking Mitsuyo Maeda thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
