PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Mitts (ranked 4498 p4p, 4609 weight class) and Cole Kiter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bobby Mitts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cole Kiter!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitts swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mitts looks to land a left hand but Kiter moved out of range nicely.
Mitts stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mitts wants it to stay on the feet.
Mitts is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kiter.
Kiter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mitts circles away.
Kiter checks a low kick from Mitts.
Kiter fails in his attempt to clinch.

and Mitts counters with a shoot takedown. Kiter fights it but they end up in guard.

Kiter has his foot on Mitts's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mitts works his way back into a safe position though.

Kiter is looking for a triangle here but Mitts uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Mitts takes a little break here. Kiter wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mitts is trying to get an arm triangle but Kiter is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Kiter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kiter prevents Mitts from moving into mount.
Kiter tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mitts wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mitts tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mitts has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kiter sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Mitts is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Mitts trying to mount his opponent but Kiter defends it.
Mitts stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiter wants to get back to full guard but Mitts has passed into side control.
Mitts landing a few strikes.
Kiter on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Mitts lands some shots froms side control.
Kiter seems a little lost for a moment, as Mitts dominates the positioning.
Mitts working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Kiter regains half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mitts working the head and body with strikes.
Mitts tries to pass to full mount but Kiter defends it.
Mitts controlling the action here.
Nice strikes from Mitts there.
Mitts working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Still in half guard, Mitts seems content to control.
Mitts is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Nice strikes from Mitts there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Mitts misses with a hook.
And Kiter tries to counter it with a takedown but Mitts pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Kiter tries to close the distance and clinch but Mitts swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mitts keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mitts seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Kiter wants to clinch up but Mitts keeps it at a distance.

Mitts feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mitts controlling from the top position.
Mitts stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kiter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kiter has his feet on Mitts's thighs here. He's pushed Mitts off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Mitts screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
