And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Willy Mataitai!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beach connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mataitai momentarily.

It looks like Willy Mataitai has been cut.
Nice uppercut lands for Mataitai. That snapped Beach's head back.
Mataitai lands a jab to Beach's midsection.
Beach scores with a shot to the body.
Beach thows a left - swing and a miss!
Despite the aggression on Mataitai's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Beach misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mataitai.
Beach throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Nice defenses there by Beach.
Mataitai dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Beach lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Beach throws a right hand that Mataitai ducks under and follows up with a left that Mataitai also avoids with ease.

and Beach connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Beach misses with a short punch on the inside.
Mataitai misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Mataitai blocks a body shot from Beach.

A nice left hand lands by Beach.

Beach breaks from the clinch.
We've been informed that Mataitai has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Mataitai looks to land a right hand but Beach moved out of range.
Mataitai avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Beach feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Mataitai sprawling to the canvas! Mataitai rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Beach finish him?!

Mataitai is rocked!

That has opened up Willy Mataitai's cut even more.
Sammy Beach seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mataitai throws an off balance right hand
and Beach cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Mataitai is still on wobbly legs! Can Beach finish him?

Beach cracks Mataitai with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Beach has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Mataitai to stand back up!
Beach wobbles Mataitai with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! Beach dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts Mataitai to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Sammy Beach!
