The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kuwabara swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kuwabara misses with a straight left.
Kuwabara throws a body punch but Jackson moves out of range.
Jackson misses with a hook to the body
and Kuwabara counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Jackson thinking.
Jackson lands a right hook to the body.
We've been hearing reports that Kuwabara has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Kuwabara loads up on a big right hand but Jackson slips the punch.
Kuwabara connects with a body shot.
Jackson fails with a takedown attempt.
Kuwabara scores with a jab to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson scores with a hook to the body. Kuwabara takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Kuwabara.
Kuwabara tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Kuwabara is trying to drag Jackson to the mat but Jackson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Kuwabara has gone for a leg lock! Jackson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kuwabara's guard.

Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kuwabara swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kuwabara is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jackson is aware though and is defending well.

Kuwabara is looking to cinch up a triangle. Jackson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Kuwabara's body to avoid the submission. Kuwabara has instead reached around Jackson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Kuwabara arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
