The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spitler moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Frank Robinson has been cut.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Robinson looks for a takedown but Spitler sprawls well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Spitler tries to land a front kick but Robinson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
The fight stays on the outside here - Robinson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Spitler counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Spitler lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Spitler tries to bum rush Robinson with a series of wild strikes but Robinson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Robinson.

Robinson is looking to clinch but Spitler is avoiding it.

and Robinson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Spitler!
You get the feeling that Spitler really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Robinson is working for a guillotine from mount but Spitler frees his head quite easily.
Spitler's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh Spitler will probably get the nod.

Spitler throws a right hand that Robinson ducks under and follows up with a left that Robinson also avoids with ease.
Robinson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Spitler on the side of the head.

Spitler trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Robinson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spitler swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Robinson chips away with some ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Robinson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Spitler pulls his leg out and moves away.

and Spitler makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Robinson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Robinson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Spitler is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Robinson goes for a takedown attempt but Spitler pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
