PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jackie The Supreme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Monkey Work (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Work has chosen Down - On March th saints as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jackie The Supreme!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Monkey Work!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Supreme shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Work pinned against the cage. Work gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The Supreme forces Work back against the cage and clinches.

The Supreme jumps guard.
The Supreme will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Work won't allow The Supreme to sweep him here.
Work looking to pass the guard.
The Supreme has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Work trying to control the position from guard on top but The Supreme is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The Supreme is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The Supreme is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Work sees it coming and defends easily.

The fighters are battling for position here. Work manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The Supreme slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Work should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Work wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Work tries to roll over but The Supreme keeps him under control.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Excellent takedown into side control there by The Supreme.
Work sneaks back into half guard.
Work is looking to control The Supreme's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Work avoid being mounted?
The Supreme landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Work has eaten all the pies!
Work is breathing heavily.
Work controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
The Supreme wants to lay and pray for a moment but Work keeps working.

The Supreme not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Work tries to get to full guard but The Supreme has control of the leg.

The Supreme tries to stand but can't do so whilst Work controls his leg.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Work wants to improve his position but The Supreme is controlling well.

The Supreme seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Work for as long as he can get away with.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jackie The Supreme just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and The Supreme counters with a single leg into guard. Work didn't expect that.

The Supreme gets to his feet. Work looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
A jab lands there for The Supreme.
The Supreme keeps Work at a distance using the push kick.

The Supreme feints and as Work raises his hands in defense, The Supreme changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The Supreme wants to control from the top but Work keeps moving.

The Supreme controls from within his opponent's guard.
The Supreme makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Work keeping moving, preventing The Supreme from controlling successfully.
Work trying to keep a closed guard but The Supreme is proving a slippery customer.
The Supreme controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The Supreme wants to stand but Work is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Work takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The Supreme is really struggling to control Work but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The Supreme is looking for a triangle but Work pushes his legs off easily.

The Supreme wants to get back to his feet but Work is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jackie The Supreme overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The Supreme gets control of Work's arms and successfully pulls guard. The Supreme will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Work stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The Supreme swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The Supreme seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The Supreme throws a nice head kick!
The Supreme fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Work looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A thudding body kick lands there by The Supreme!
The Supreme jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The Supreme closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - The Supreme lands in his opponent's guard.
Work is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The Supreme postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

The Supreme stands and steps away. Work gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Horrible takedown by The Supreme or perhaps it was just good defense by Work which made him look bad.
The Supreme looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Work is fending him off so far but The Supreme persists. Nope, Work circles away and we're back to standing.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jackie The Supreme showed his dominance in that final round.
Well The Supreme has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
