Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Red Rum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Boruma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Boruma!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Steve Montenegro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boruma fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rum keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Boruma shoots in but no luck this time.
Red Rum has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Boruma.
Rum stuffs the takedown.
Boruma tries to clinch but Rum is having none of it.

Boruma scores a takedown into full mount!

Boruma goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Rum turns into him and now he's in Boruma's guard.

Rum avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Boruma had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rum is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Boruma Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rum's back instead.
Rum manages to reverse the position and now he's in Boruma's guard. Nice work there by Rum.

Boruma is looking for a triangle but Rum pushes his legs off easily.

Boruma has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rum can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rum passes Boruma's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Rum is taking a breather. Boruma says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rum tries to pass the half guard into mount. Boruma knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rum lunges at Boruma with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Boruma's hand.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

It looks like Brian Boruma has been cut.
Boruma closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rum circles away.
Rum stuffs the takedown.

Rum swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Boruma.
Boruma shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


That has opened up Brian Boruma's cut even more.
Boruma shoots in looking for a takedown. Rum tries to sprawl out of it but Boruma keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rum manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Rum looks to land a combination but Boruma avoids it well.

Rum slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Boruma tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rum just stands there and leans against the cage.

Boruma closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rum circles away.
Rum finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Rum for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Rum gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Rum is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Boruma can do to turn this around?
Boruma tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rum smiles and moves away.
Boruma shoots in for a takedown but Rum shows good takedown defense.

Boruma shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rum pinned against the cage. Rum gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Rum rushes Boruma and presses him up against the cage.
A right handed body shot lands from Rum.

Rum lands with a left to the head.
Rum stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Brian Boruma's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Rum's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Boruma shoots in and drives through. Rum sprawls well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rum tests Boruma's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Horrible takedown by Boruma or perhaps it was just good defense by Rum which made him look bad.
Rum finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Rum creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Boruma jumps guard but Rum stands there with Boruma around his waist. Boruma gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Rum pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Boruma shoots for a takedown but Rum saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rum works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Boruma shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rum as he avoids it easily.

Rum clinches up against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rum lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Rum lands with a left to the head.

Rum breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Boruma throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rum's waist but Rum gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Boruma off to one side.
Red Rum is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rum misses with a kick to the body.
Boruma will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Boruma avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Rum lands with a straight right. Boruma didn't see that one coming.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Brian Boruma's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Red Rum!
