PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Nixon (ranked 5042 p4p, 23980 weight class) and Gajah Mada (ranked 503 p4p, 605 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Nixon might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Big Beat Manifesto. Mada has chosen Fighter Mode as his entrance music. Ben Nixon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ben Nixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gajah Mada!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nixon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nixon sets himself, and Mada steps forward looking for the clinch! Nixon avoids it this time.
Nixon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mada defends well and Nixon ends up having to push Mada into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Mada changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Nixon will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Mada up against the cage.

Nixon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nixon tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mada sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nixon somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Nixon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nixon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mada as he avoids it easily.
Mada avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mada tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Mada drives through with a takedown into Nixon's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Mada throwing strikes from guard but Nixon blocks nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mada stands up over Nixon, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Nixon is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mada is aware though and is defending well.
We've been hearing good reports from Nixon's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Mada is sitting in close to Nixon's body. Nixon has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Mada is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Mada is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Nixon.
