Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rolando Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris River (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garcia comes to the cage accompanied by Sound And Fury - I've Got Rabies. River comes into a darkened arena with his song building. A Country Boy Can Survive kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rolando Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris River!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
River moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Garcia fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
River throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Garcia.
River throws a head kick that misses.
Garcia tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but River was well out of range. Poor timing from Garcia.
River misses with a head kick.
Garcia lands a nice hook to River's body. River takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Nice defenses there by Garcia.
River ducks under a wild hook from Garcia.
River leaves Garcia with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
River misses with a series of wild punches.
Garcia throws the left hand but River avoids the punch easily.

River throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Garcia's head.


It looks like Rolando Garcia has been cut.
Garcia throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
River pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Garcia misses the jab.
River throws a head kick that misses.
River throws a sloppy head kick and Garcia moves out of range easily.
Garcia steps to the side to avoid the strikes from River.
River avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Garcia scores with a crisp jab that stopped River in his tracks.
River looks to throw the jab but Garcia is out of range.

River throws a one two combo.
Garcia throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
River throws a head kick that misses.

River gets caught flat footed, as Garcia shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Garcia has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

River has his foot on Garcia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Garcia works his way back into a safe position though.

Garcia is in close to River's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Garcia sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed River's guard.
River is trying to get back to full guard.
Garcia scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Garcia wants to work for an arm triangle but River is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Garcia working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Garcia lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Garcia seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
River wants to get back to full guard.
Garcia looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Garcia wants to free his trapped foot but River is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

River throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Garcia manages to pass to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rolando Garcia will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Garcia scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. River doesn't seem bothered though.
River pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
River blocks a jab.
A punch lands to the side of Garcia 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Chris River seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The fighters circling - Garcia throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

River staying out of range there.
Rolando Garcia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Garcia shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Garcia lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

River wants to control but Garcia is keeping busy.
Garcia looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks River with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

River looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Garcia passes into half guard.

Garcia is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. River doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Garcia.
River wants to control but Garcia is keeping busy.

Garcia is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

River looking for subs from the bottom but Garcia mounts him!
River is breathing heavily.
Garcia has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of River's face.
Garcia postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. River looks a forlorn figure.
River is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
River tries to hold on but Garcia pushes him away.
BOOM! Garcia connects with a massive shot to the dome!
River wants to get back to his feet.
Garcia postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked River badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Garcia around the waist but Garcia pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Garcia is the winner by TKO! Garcia jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rolando Garcia!
