Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roman Garcie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rafael Gomez Da Silva Jr!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Da Silva Jr feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Da Silva Jr advances to half guard.
Garcie trying to control from the bottom.
Garcie wants to get back to full guard.
Da Silva Jr keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Da Silva Jr has control of an arm but Garcie manages to advance to Da Silva Jr's back!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Da Silva Jr fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Garcie sprawls well initially but Da Silva Jr persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Garcie wants to control but Da Silva Jr is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Da Silva Jr takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Da Silva Jr changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Garcie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

You can see the frustration on Garcie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The adventures of Da Silva Jr the control monster continue. Boring.

Rafael Gomez Da Silva Jr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Garcie pulls Da Silva Jr in close to his closed guard and prevents Da Silva Jr from doing any damage or advancing position.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Garcie holds on and takes a little breather.
Da Silva Jr is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Garcie gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Da Silva Jr to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Well Da Silva Jr has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Rafael Gomez Da Silva Jr was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
