Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mark Diakese (ranked 5349 p4p, 5130 weight class) and Simba Smith (ranked 302 p4p, 294 weight class). Mark Diakese has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Smith stuffs the takedown attempt from Diakese. Diakese gets slowly back to his feet.

Smith looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Diakese!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Smith has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Smith darts in and clinches Diakese up against the cage.

Diakese gets control of Smith's arms and successfully pulls guard. Diakese will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Smith advances position into side control!
Diakese manages to work his way to half guard, despite Smith's best efforts.
Diakese manages to get to full guard.
Smith's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Diakese knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

Smith slips nicely into half guard.
Diakese trying to get back to full guard but Smith takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Diakese tries to hold on but Smith postures up.
The referee warns Diakese that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Diakese is in all sorts of trouble here.
Smith tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Smith looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Diakese tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smith controlling the pace for now.

Diakese moves to clinch but Smith breaks away

and Smith counters with a single leg into guard. Diakese didn't expect that.
Diakese can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Smith controls the pace.
Let's hope that Smith has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Smith is looking for a kimura but Diakese is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Smith to get the leverage.
Diakese has hold of Smith's hands but Smith slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Smith content to control rather than advance.

Diakese tries to kick Smith off in order to stand up. Smith Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Diakese on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Smith is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Diakese will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Smith lands an elbow.
Diakese really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Diakese seems a little lost for a moment, as Smith dominates the positioning.

Smith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Diakese, who protects the arm well.
Smith takes a little break here. Diakese wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Diakese sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Smith lands with a punch from half guard.
Diakese has hold of Smith's hands but Smith slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Smith works his foot free and advances to mount.

Smith lands with some strikes.

Diakese is rocked!

Smith is working for a guillotine from mount but Diakese frees his head quite easily.
Oh Diakese is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
A big strike lands for Smith! That's really hurt Diakese and he's turned his back - Smith keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Smith jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
