The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Branca takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Branca walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Cruz Jr has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Cruz Jr misses with an uppercut
and Branca connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cruz Jr cracks Branca with a right hand to the side of the head.
Joao Cajo Branca seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cruz Jr throws a lazy head kick
and Branca counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Branca loads up on a big right hand but Cruz Jr slips the punch.
Branca throws a right hand that misses
and Cruz Jr counters with a nice uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Branca throws a lazy body kick

and Cruz Jr counters with a head kick that drops Branca to the mat! Branca scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Branca is rocked!
Branca drops his hands momentarily. Cruz Jr doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Branca staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Branca doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

After the fight, Jorge Cruz Jr was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
