PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Manny Luciano (ranked 1917 p4p, 1309 weight class) and Seamus Murphy (ranked 113 p4p, 73 weight class). Murphy comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Molly Malone- The Dubliners kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Manny Luciano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Seamus Murphy!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luciano misses the jab.
Murphy tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Murphy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Luciano counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Seamus Murphy has been cut.
Luciano stalks Murphy and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Murphy's face. Murphy staggers backwards, shaken.

Murphy is rocked!
Luciano connects with a jab.
Murphy is still on wobbly legs! Can Luciano finish him?

Murphy closes the distance and clinches.
Murphy tries to throw a body punch but Luciano avoids it by throwing Murphy back against the cage.
Murphy seems to have recovered his senses.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Murphy.
Luciano digs a right hand into Murphy's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Murphy's gas tank.
Luciano misses with a hook to the ribs.
Murphy takes a shot to the head.
Luciano lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Murphy pulls guard successfully.
Luciano has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Murphy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Luciano is aware though and is defending well.
Murphy keeping moving, preventing Luciano from controlling successfully.
Luciano knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Murphy on the ground.
Luciano wants to pass the guard but Murphy is keeping the position.

Murphy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Luciano defends well.
Luciano not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Murphy is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Luciano has his hands clasped together but Murphy extends and breaks Luciano's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Murphy.
