PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Irish Power (ranked 321 p4p, 1543 weight class) and Eric Draven (ranked 45 p4p, 170 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Irish Power!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 15 - 2, fighting out of London, Eric Draven!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Draven closes the distance but Power moves to the side
and Power counters with a series of strikes. Draven will be more careful next time no doubt.
Power jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Draven gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Power connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Draven lands a nice shot to the body.
Power throws a hook to the side of Draven's head but Draven sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Draven looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
A head kick misses from Draven.
Power closes the distance but Draven moves to the side
and Draven counters with a straight right hand.
Draven misses with a wild body shot.
Draven closes the distance and clinches up with Power, looking for a takedown. Draven pushes Power against the cage but Power circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Power throws a big counter combination but Draven scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Power takes the fight into the clinch.

Draven escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Irish Power is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Power moves in looking to clinch but Draven pushes him off.
A swing and a miss from Power.
Draven lands a nice looking body shot.
Draven misses with a wild body shot.
Power looks to throw the jab but Draven is out of range.
Power throws an overhand right that lands on Draven's shoulder, as Draven tries to avoid the shot.
Power scores with a jab to the body.
Draven moves out of range of the strikes.
Draven tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Power paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Power is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Draven.
Draven takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Draven dives in and grabs Power's left leg, looking for a takedown. Power pushes down on Draven's head and hops out.
Irish Power has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Draven.
Power lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Power throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Power misses with a looping left.
Draven tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Draven misses with a body kick.

Power missing with a left hand there. Draven was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
And Draven responds with a good body kick, but Power manages to step out the way in time.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Power throws a jab but it's blocked by Draven.
A right-left combo lands from Draven.
Power throws a chopping leg kick but Draven manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Draven lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Draven scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Draven misses with the combination.
Draven throws a right hand that Power ducks under and follows up with a left that Power also avoids with ease.
Draven fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Draven dives in and grabs Power's left leg, looking for a takedown. Power pushes down on Draven's head and hops out.

Draven misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Power definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Draven bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Power's head.
Power tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Power lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Draven out cold! Draven is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Irish Power!
