Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hex Portman (ranked 3135 p4p, 3501 weight class) and Thufir Hawat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hex Portman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thufir Hawat!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawat throws a head kick but Portman moves out of range.
Portman blocks a head kick by Hawat.
Hawat gets tackled into the cage by Portman. Portman maintains the clinch.
Portman jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hawat walks away with a smile on his face. Portman gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Portman takes the fight into the clinch.
Portman blocks a body shot from Hawat.
Portman successfully pulls guard.
Portman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hawat can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Portman seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Hawat wants to pass the guard but Portman is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hawat is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hawat trying to control the position from guard on top but Portman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hawat gets to his feet. Portman looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Portman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hawat, pushing him back against the cage.
Portman jumps guard but Hawat turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Hawat's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Portman pushes Hawat up against the cage in a clinch.
Portman manages to pull guard.
Hawat stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Portman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hawat trying to control but Portman is working from the bottom.
Hawat avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Portman working for a triangle but Hawat defends it easily.
Hawat has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Portman is proving hard to escape from.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hawat sitting in guard here, content to control.
Portman is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Hawat has his hands clasped together but Portman extends and breaks Hawat's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Portman.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hex Portman!
