PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Van Sils (ranked 2964 p4p, 4403 weight class) and Roman Kazieczko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Van Sils!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roman Kazieczko!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sils misses with a right hand

and Kazieczko counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kazieczko wants to free his trapped foot but Sils is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Kazieczko content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Sils is looking to improve his position.
Sils wants to control but Kazieczko is keeping busy.
Sils is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kazieczko decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Kazieczko on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Kazieczko does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Sils tries to sprawl but Kazieczko drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Sils wants to get back to full guard.
Kazieczko is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sils avoids a strike by Kazieczko and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Kazieczko's guard! Fantastic escape!

Kazieczko wants to sweep but no luck.

Sils drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kazieczko looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kazieczko looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kazieczko!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kazieczko sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Sils is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Kazieczko is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sils is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sils is being controlled here.
Sils wants to get back to his feet.
Sils tries to improve position but can't.
Kazieczko in side control, throwing shots but Sils defends.
Sils is trying to get back to half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sils looking for a sweep but Kazieczko has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Kazieczko tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Sils is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Sils holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Kazieczko tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Sils wants to hold on but Kazieczko pushes him away.
Sils is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kazieczko punching from mount but Sils doing a good job of avoiding damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kazieczko thowing shots but they're missing.
Sils is trying desperately to improve position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Roman Kazieczko dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kazieczko fails to land the takedown.
Sils thuds his right hand into Kazieczko's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Kazieczko misses with a straight left.
Sils ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kazieczko moves away.
Van Sils is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sils looks to score with a jab to the body but Kazieczko is just out of range.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sils is defended easily by Kazieczko.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Kazieczko holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kazieczko drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sils gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kazieczko avoids a wild elbow strike from Sils.
Kazieczko goes for a takedown attempt but Sils pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Van Sils has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roman Kazieczko.
Sils's corner calls for a 1-2. Sils obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Kazieczko moves into range and clinches up with Sils.
Sils throws a knee to the head but misses.
Kazieczko has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sils is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Sils misses with a punch on the inside.
Sils working aggressively here.
Sils is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Kazieczko blocks an elbow strike.

Kazieczko ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kazieczko no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Kazieczko is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kazieczko is pulling down on Sils's head. It's preventing any offense from Sils, at least for the moment.

Kazieczko had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sils defends it easily.

Kazieczko has his foot on Sils's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sils works his way back into a safe position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sils trying to control but Kazieczko is working from the bottom.

Sils drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kazieczko looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kazieczko looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kazieczko!

Kazieczko has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Van Sils will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Sils throws a shot to the body.
Kazieczko takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Sils scores with a punch to the head.
Sils shoots in looking for a takedown. Kazieczko tries to sprawl out of it but Sils keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kazieczko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Sils is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Kazieczko tries to move into range but Sils moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Sils pushes Kazieczko away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kazieczko gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sils looking for a sweep but Kazieczko has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Sils is desperately trying to improve his position but Kazieczko has a good base and remains in mount.
Sils is working hard here to advance position.
Kazieczko unloads with some shots from mount but Sils bucks and avoids them well.
Sils is trying to escape the mount.

Kazieczko sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Kazieczko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sils. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kazieczko is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sils doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kazieczko.

I would just about give that final round to Roman Kazieczko.
I think Kazieczko has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
