Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bryan Danielson (ranked 5036 p4p, 4947 weight class) and Roger Mesquita (ranked 507 p4p, 503 weight class). Roger Mesquita will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mesquita circles away from the clinch attempt.
Danielson moves to clinch but Mesquita breaks away

and Mesquita counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Danielson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mesquita defends it easily.
Mesquita stands up over Danielson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Danielson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mesquita is aware though and is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Danielson has his foot on Mesquita's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mesquita works his way back into a safe position though.
Mesquita is working Danielson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Danielson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mesquita doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mesquita manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Danielson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mesquita gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Danielson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mesquita drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mesquita jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Danielson is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Mesquita rolls with it to try and escape but Danielson cranks on the arm and Mesquita is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
