PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Ao Kuang (ranked 19990 p4p, 20877 weight class) and Riley Knox (ranked 620 p4p, 642 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Knox's choice of entrance music: Roy Jones Jr - I Smoke, I Drink feat. Mr. Magic & Youngbloodz). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ao Kuang!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Riley Knox!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuang throws a lazy uppercut
enabling Knox to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Ao Kuang has been cut.
A lazy body kick from Kuang
and Knox counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Kuang throws a leg kick
and Knox cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Knox throws a leg kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Kuang throws a low kick but Knox moves out of range easily.
Kuang just misses with a punch to the body.
Kuang really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Knox scores a flash knockdown with a right hook that drops Kuang to his hands and knees! The ref pushes Knox away as he looks to land an illegal blow. Kuang got an extra few seconds to recover there, which could have made all the differences as he stumbles back to his feet. The referee looks into his eyes and decides to allow the bout to continue. Can he survive?!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Knox closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kuang counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kuang loads up on a big right hand but Knox slips the punch.
Kuang ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Knox on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kuang. Kuang obviously looking to wear him down.
Knox throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Kuang counters with a nice low kick that buckles Knox's knee momentarily.
Knox misses with a hook to the body
and Kuang cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Kuang throws a jab but it's blocked by Knox.
Knox doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Nice jab there from Kuang.
Knox throws a poor cross that misses
and Kuang counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A left lands for Knox.
Knox throws an off balance right hand
and Kuang counters with a stiff right hand.
Kuang is looking to land body kicks.
Knox wants to counter the offense by Kuang and move into the clinch position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kuang swings away with a leg kick that misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Kuang misses the target.
A little jabbing left from Knox on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Knox tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Kuang paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Good leg kick by Kuang.
Kuang is looking to slow Knox down with leg kicks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kuang scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Kuang goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Kuang throws a looping overhand right but Knox ducks down to avoid it.
Knox lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Knox misses with a lunging right hand
and Kuang counters with a nice leg kick.
Knox cracks Kuang with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Knox throws an off balance right hand
and Kuang counters with a nice leg kick.
Kuang takes a swing at Knox's ribcage but misses.
Knox now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kuang throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kuang scores with a punch to the head.
Kuang looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Knox moves out of range of the leg kick from Kuang.
Knox looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Kuang slips a straight right by Knox.
Kuang half committed to a counter leg kick.
Knox scores with a nice strike.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kuang throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Knox stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A telegraphed right hand from Knox misses the target.
That kick from Knox tenderised Kuang's leg. Kuang is trying to keep his angry face on.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Having scored a knockdown, Riley Knox should take round 1, putting pressure on his opponene back strong in round 2.
The cut man is working on Ao Kuang's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

and Knox counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kuang thinking.
Knox throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kuang counters with a low kick, right behind Knox 's knee.
Ao Kuang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kuang thumps Knox with a low kick.
Kuang scores with a jab to the head.
Kuang thows a left - swing and a miss!
Ao Kuang is winning the standup battle so far.
Kuang throws a right and a left that Knox avoids nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kuang looks to throw a body kick
and Knox counters with a left to the body.

Knox cracks Kuang with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Kuang is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Kuang is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9, he's up! Wow, he cut that one a bit fine!
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kuang throws a hook but Knox avoids it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kuang gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Kuang is rocked!
BAM! Knox delivers a spinning backfist that drops Kuang like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Spinning Backfist). Riley Knox!
Riley Knox decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
