Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leonard Nimoy (ranked 2584 p4p, 4016 weight class) and Bruno Souppe (ranked 347 p4p, 502 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nimoy scores with a nice strike.

It looks like Bruno Souppe has been cut.

Nimoy clinches with his opponent.
Nimoy slows down the pace here.
Souppe letting Nimoy take a breather here.
Nimoy struggles to land a body shot inside as Souppe controls his hands.
Nimoy tries a body shot but Souppe blocks it.
Nimoy lands a shot to the body.

Nimoy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Souppe uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nimoy.
A big right from Nimoy misses.
Souppe slips a straight right by Nimoy.
Nimoy throws a body shot but no joy.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Souppe! But no joy.
Nimoy throws a hook but Souppe avoids it easily.
Souppe changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nimoy throws a lazy right hand but Souppe sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Souppe! But no joy.
Nimoy rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Souppe counters with a stiff right hand.
A looping hook to the body misses from Nimoy. Souppe does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nimoy throws a series of punches but Souppe avoids them all with ease.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Souppe! But no joy.
Nimoy bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Nimoy clinches up with Souppe and pushes him back against the cage.
Nimoy lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Nimoy doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Souppe manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Nimoy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Our spies down at at Hotrod Express MMA Training inform us that Souppe has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Souppe is trying to control the position but Nimoy postures up.
Nimoy wants to control from the top but Souppe keeps moving.
Souppe lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Souppe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Souppe postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nimoy is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Souppe, into his guard.

Souppe pulls Nimoy in close to his closed guard and prevents Nimoy from doing any damage or advancing position.
Nimoy controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Souppe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nimoy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Souppe has his hands on Nimoy's head, controlling the position.
Nimoy sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Souppe wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Nimoy tries to stand but Souppe is controlling from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nimoy controlling from the top position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nimoy works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Nimoy lands with an uppercut that bounces Souppe off the cage and back into range.
Nimoy throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Souppe to counter with a crisp jab.
Nimoy attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Nimoy misses with a straight left.
Nimoy fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Souppe on the side of the head.

Souppe is rocked!
Souppe circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Nimoy. Souppe falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Nimoy!
