PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lerrick Dewis (ranked 3579 p4p, 4172 weight class) and Dylan Sydal (ranked 429 p4p, 480 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dylan Sydal was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lerrick Dewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Dylan Sydal!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sydal gets a clinch.
Dewis letting Sydal take a breather here.

Dewis wants the takedown. Sydal is fighting it off but Dewis persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Sydal's guard against the cage.
Dewis wants to control from the top but Sydal keeps moving.
Sydal lands some strikes from the bottom.
Dewis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Dewis wants to pass the guard but Sydal is keeping the position.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dewis enables Sydal to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dewis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sydal is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Dewis is surviving well by controlling Sydal's body position as best he can.
Dewis is looking to get to half guard.
Sydal takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dewis wants to hold on but Sydal pushes him away.

Dewis drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sydal gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Dewis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sydal keeps working.

Sydal wants to get back to his feet.
Sydal scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Dewis manages to mount him!
Dylan Sydal has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sydal is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Sydal is squirming around, avoiding Dewis's attempts to control the action.

Dewis lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Sydal felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Dewis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sydal is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Dewis goes for a takedown in the clinch but Sydal prevents it.
Dewis has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sydal after a bit of a struggle.

Sydal seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Dylan Sydal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sydal has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
