Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Klaus Chugman (ranked 1294 p4p, 1700 weight class) and Frank Granger (ranked 37 p4p, 46 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Klaus Chugman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Granger!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chugman is looking to clinch but Granger is avoiding it.
It seemed like Granger was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Granger falls off balance throwing a combination

and Chugman counters with a single leg into guard. Granger didn't expect that.
Granger wants to get back to his feet but Chugman passes into half guard.


Chugman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Chugman stops Granger from getting back to his feet.
Granger won't allow Chugman to pass to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Granger is trying to stand back up but Chugman is controlling him

Chugman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Granger does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Chugman is just content to waste time from the top position. Granger takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Chugman won't allow Granger to get back to his feet.
Chugman lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chugman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Chugman prevents Granger from getting back to his feet.

We've been hearing that Chugman has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Granger pushes Chugman off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Granger misses with a kick to the body.
The fighters circling - Chugman throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Chugman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Chugman moves into the clinch.
Granger wants to break the clinch but can't.
Chugman keeps control of Granger as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Chugman jumps guard but Granger turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Granger pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Granger wants to stand and escape but Chugman is having none of it.

Chugman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Chugman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Granger swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Chugman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Chugman is working Granger over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Chugman tries to free his leg and advance position but Granger is retaining full guard.
Granger wants to stand up but Chugman is controlling him.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Chugman shoots in for a takedown but Granger shows good takedown defense.
Frank Granger is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Chugman stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Granger connects with a solid leg kick.
Granger waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Chugman.

Granger swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Granger tries a head kick but it misses.
Chugman appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Granger cracks Chugman with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Granger wants to slow Chugman down by chopping away at his legs.
Chugman changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Chugman cracks Granger with an open hand slap.
Chugman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Granger manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Chugman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Granger won't be happy with that.
The strikes coming from Chugman are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Granger is trying to buck Chugman off.
Granger is not content to let Chugman control the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Klaus Chugman will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Granger connects with a leg kick.
Granger throws a right and a left that Chugman avoids nicely.
Chugman changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Chugman tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Chugman tries to close the distance and clinch but Granger swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Granger swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Chugman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Granger tries to avoid it but Chugman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Granger to the ground. Granger escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A little jabbing left from Granger on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Granger looks to land a combination but Chugman avoids it well.
Granger lands a two punch combo.
Granger tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chugman was well out of range. Poor timing from Granger.
The fighters circling - Chugman throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Granger finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Chugman fails in his attempt to clinch.

Chugman drops down looking for a counter takedown but Granger sprawls and moves away.

Chugman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chugman lands in his opponent's guard.

Granger scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Granger throws a leg kick but Chugman sees it coming and moves out of range.
Granger missing with a left hand there. Chugman was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Chugman is looking to clinch.
Granger bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Granger leaves Chugman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Granger tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Chugman is able to avoid easily.

Chugman tries to pass the half guard into mount. Granger knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Granger looks like he's trying to stand up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Chugman frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Chugman goes for an armbar but Granger turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Granger.

Klaus Chugman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
It looks like Granger is going to stand back up.

Granger decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Chugman tries to close the distance and clinch but Granger swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Granger throws out a loose jab but Chugman uses good head movement to avoid it.
Granger stuns Chugman with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Chugman is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Chugman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Granger swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Chugman throws a lazy right hand but Granger sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Klaus Chugman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chugman bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Granger misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Chugman changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Granger throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Chugman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Granger was covering up waiting for the punch and Chugman finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Chugman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Granger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Chugman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Chugman tries to clinch up but Granger circles away and keeps his distance.
Granger throws a hook but Chugman blocks it.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Chugman chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Granger can pounce on him.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Chugman takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Klaus Chugman.

Frank Granger seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Granger steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Chugman.

Granger throws a series of punches but Chugman avoids them all with ease.

Chugman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Granger tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Chugman manages to move to mount!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chugman wants to control the pace but Granger is squirming around nicely.

Granger bucks Chugman off and manages to get back to his feet!
Chugman moves out of range as Granger strikes.
Granger is looking to chop away at Chugman's legs.
Chugman goes for a double leg but Granger avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Granger continues to drive forward.

Granger pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Chugman is trying to stall.
Granger is pressed up against the cage. Chugman has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Granger down to the mat. Granger avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Klaus Chugman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chugman walks into a straight right hand from Granger.
Granger misses with a low kick as Chugman jumps back.

Granger tries to keep at a distance but Chugman has taken the fight into the clinch.
Granger is trying to break free.
Granger has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chugman's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Chugman seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Granger comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Granger has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Frank Granger spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
