Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Omari Apinagewanwa (ranked 4254 p4p, 6097 weight class) and Julian Durda (ranked 359 p4p, 427 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Apinagewanwa might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Maurice A God - Lottery. Omari Apinagewanwa could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Julian Durda's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Omari Apinagewanwa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Julian Durda!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Apinagewanwa uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Durda.
Apinagewanwa throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Apinagewanwa misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Durda works the jab nicely.
Durda takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
A looping hook to the body misses from Apinagewanwa. Durda does a little dance to reset his feet.
Durda appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Oooh a lovely combination from Durda sends Apinagewanwa down but not out. Durda dives into side control looking to finish.

It looks like Omari Apinagewanwa has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
I wouldn't like to be where Apinagewanwa is right now.
Oh Apinagewanwa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Durda remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Apinagewanwa wants to control but Durda postures up.

Let's hope that Durda has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

As Apinagewanwa backs off Durda throws a huge counter combo but Apinagewanwa manages to avoid it all.
Omari Apinagewanwa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Durda misses with a straight left.
Apinagewanwa cracks Durda with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Apinagewanwa dodges the punch combination from Durda.

Apinagewanwa throws a right hand that Durda ducks under and follows up with a left that Durda also avoids with ease.
Durda takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Julian Durda is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Apinagewanwa checks the leg kick nicely there.
Apinagewanwa lands the left hand.
Apinagewanwa throws a right and a left that Durda avoids nicely.
Durda lands with an uppercut that bounces Apinagewanwa off the cage and back into range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's time! Apinagewanwa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Apinagewanwa tries to bum rush Durda with a series of wild strikes but Durda uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Durda sizes up Apinagewanwa with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Apinagewanwa looks to land a combination but Durda avoids it well.
Apinagewanwa cracks Durda with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Good exchange - Apinagewanwa coming out on top.
Durda on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Apinagewanwa's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Apinagewanwa duly obliges.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Apinagewanwa, as that shot connected.

Durda uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Durda seems to have recovered his senses.
Apinagewanwa is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Apinagewanwa is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Durda.

Durda lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Apinagewanwa throws a right hand that Durda ducks under and follows up with a left that Durda also avoids with ease.
Apinagewanwa takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Apinagewanwa tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Apinagewanwa counters with a crisp one two that drops Durda! Apinagewanwa thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Durda to his feet! Durda is in big trouble!

Durda throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Apinagewanwa throws a hook to the side of Durda's head but Durda sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Durda slips a jab and a cross from Apinagewanwa.

Apinagewanwa walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Durda moves out of range as Apinagewanwa strikes.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Durda! But no joy.

Durda takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Apinagewanwa swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Durda misses with a low kick as Apinagewanwa jumps back.
Apinagewanwa appears to be looking for a big counter.
Durda cracks Apinagewanwa on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Apinagewanwa falls backwards against the cage. Durda follows up with more strikes that drop Apinagewanwa to his knees. Durda keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Apinagewanwa! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Julian Durda!
Julian Durda was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
