PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rooster Test (ranked 2247 p4p, 2673 weight class) and Sylvester Malone (ranked 283 p4p, 332 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rooster Test !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sylvester Malone!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Lou da Vinci and John Roberts.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malone throws the kick towards the body but Test avoids it.
Malone lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Test ducks under a wild hook from Malone.
Malone tests Test 's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Malone swings for the body but Test moves out of range.
Malone moves out of range as Test strikes.
Malone keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Test .
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Malone throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Test counters with a stiff right hand.
Test throws a jab but it's blocked by Malone.
Test has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Roosters Coop in the buildup to the fight.
A combination from Test does no damage.
Malone was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Malone throws a right and a left that Test avoids nicely.
Malone misses the shot to the body.
The fighters circling - Test throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Malone defending well as Test loads up on a big left hand.
It seemed like Malone was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Test avoids the head kick by Malone.
Test walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Test missing with a left hand there. Malone was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Malone, as that shot connected.
Test throws the left hand but Malone avoids the punch easily.
Malone flicks out a counter leg kick but Test steps away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Test with a jab.
Test rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Malone makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Test keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Malone fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Test has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Malone cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nice straight punches there by Test . You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Test .
Malone uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Test .
Test checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Malone throws a low kick, looking for Test 's leg but Test calmly moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Malone with the inside leg kick.
Malone bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Malone doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and Malone counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Malone lands a nice hook to Test 's body. Test takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Malone scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Malone is looking to score with low kicks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Malone lands a big uppercut and Test crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Test looks OK. Malone waves Test back to his feet!

Test is rocked!

It looks like Rooster Test has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Malone lands a nice looking kick to the body. Test takes a step back to recover.
Test throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Malone stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Malone avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Malone. Test does a little dance to reset his feet.
A nice leg kick lands there from Malone.
A jab from Test misses.
Test lands with an overhand left.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sylvester Malone dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rooster Test 's cut.
That's time! Test 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A good leg kick by Malone.
Malone throws a wild hook but Test just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Malone gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Test raises his hands in celebration and walks away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rooster Test !
In his post fight interview, Rooster Test started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
