PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Jones (ranked 4392 p4p, 24822 weight class) and Smelvis Jeffries (ranked 507 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is God Gave Me Style. Smelvis Jeffries has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonathan Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Smelvis Jeffries!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jeffries changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Jeffries manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jeffries gets a clinch.

Jeffries jumps into guard, dragging Jones to the mat.
Jeffries bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.


Jones is working an open guard so Jeffries takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jeffries shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jonathan Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Jeffries crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Jones - the referee stops the clock and Jeffries gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Jones. Jeffries manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Jeffries throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jeffries off to one side.

Jonathan Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
