Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stu Redman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Atakan Akkaynak!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redman throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Akkaynak counters with a takedown into side control.
Akkaynak lands a few punches from side control.
Akkaynak working the head and body with strikes.
You can see the frustration on Redman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Akkaynak looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Akkaynak in side control lands a decent elbow.
Check out the look on Akkaynak's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Akkaynak is chipping away with strikes.
Redman is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Akkaynak looks up at the clock and then as Redman takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Akkaynak smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Akkaynak working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akkaynak lands an elbow.
Redman is working to avoid the ground and pound but Akkaynak connects with a decent elbow.
Redman being controlled for a moment.
Redman has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Akkaynak is chipping away with strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Akkaynak is staying tight to Redman's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Akkaynak lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Akkaynak has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Redman manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Akkaynak slips a nice elbow through Redman's hands, connecting with Redman's forehead.
Akkaynak working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Akkaynak seems to be working for a kimura but Redman defends the submission attempt.
Akkaynak thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Redman's head.
Akkaynak wants to control but Redman is keeping him busy.

Redman is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Redman punching from the bottom.
Redman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Akkaynak on the ground.
Akkaynak looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Akkaynak connects with a nice short shot to Redman's temple.
Redman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Redman tries to get out of the position.

Redman is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Akkaynak's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Akkaynak's back!

Akkaynak turns into Redman and is now in his guard.
Akkaynak working some strikes from top position.
Akkaynak wants to control from the top but Redman keeps moving.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Akkaynak's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Akkaynak scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Akkaynak keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Redman's head.
Oh Redman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Redman has momentary wrist control but Akkaynak slips an elbow through the middle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Akkaynak connects with a couple of short punches.

Akkaynak avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Redman looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Akkaynak puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Redman seems to have got his legs back now.
Akkaynak looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Redman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Redman has hold of Akkaynak's hands but Akkaynak slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Akkaynak seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Redman is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Atakan Akkaynak!
