Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Christ (ranked 5066 p4p, 6383 weight class) and Sam Vatubua (ranked 585 p4p, 673 weight class). Vatubua has chosen O Fortuna as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vatubua looks to land a left hand but Christ moved out of range nicely.
Christ misses with a straight left.
Sam Vatubua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Christ's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Christ fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Vatubua looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

It looks like Sam Vatubua has been cut.
Vatubua takes a swing at Christ's ribcage but misses.

and Christ counters with a crisp one two that drops Vatubua! Christ thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Vatubua to his feet! Vatubua is in big trouble!
Vatubua throws a shot from downtown. Christ moves away and avoids it.
Vatubua avoids a punch combination nicely.
Christ rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vatubua moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Vatubua fails with an attempt to clinch.
A little feinted left hand from Christ on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Vatubua clinches with his opponent.
Vatubua tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Christ tries a body shot but Vatubua blocks it.
Christ misses with a short punch on the inside.
We've been informed that Vatubua has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Christ escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Christ avoids the body shot from Vatubua.
Good exchange - Christ coming out on top.

Vatubua is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Christ is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Vatubua flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Vatubua is out cold! Christ holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
