Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between William Peers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Motoki Matsui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, William Peers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Motoki Matsui!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsui fails with an attempt to clinch.

Matsui closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Matsui lands in his opponent's guard.
Matsui must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Peers is on top in guard.

Matsui pushes Peers off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Matsui shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Matsui showed some decent athleticism there.

Matsui tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Peers wants to control but Matsui is keeping busy.

Peers kicks Matsui off and gets back to his feet.
Peers misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Matsui changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Peers looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Peers takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Matsui wants to control the action here but instead Peers manages to pass to full mount!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Matsui is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Peers blocks Matsui's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Matsui is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Matsui throwing hammer fists to the chest of Peers. What's that going to do exactly?
Matsui is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Matsui swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Matsui is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Peers controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Matsui uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Peers.

The fight stays on the outside here - Matsui looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Peers stands up and waves to Matsui to follow him.

and Peers counters with a good, hard body kick but Matsui shrugs it off.
Peers lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Matsui walks into a stiff left hand from Peers.

Peers swats away the attempt to clinch by Matsui.

William Peers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Motoki Matsui.
Peers gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Matsui.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Matsui throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Matsui tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Peers smiles and moves away.

and Peers counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Peers.
Matsui looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Matsui is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Matsui stalling in the clinch but Peers improves position.

Peers jumps guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Peers is on top in guard.

Matsui wants to stand up but Peers is controlling him.
Matsui controls Peers momentarily but Peers frees himself.
Peers is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Matsui looking to hit a scissor sweep but Peers is one step ahead there.

Peers content to stall in guard here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Peers throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Peers closes the distance and clinches.

Peers breaks the clinch.
Peers throws a sloppy head kick and Matsui moves out of range easily.
Matsui tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Peers counters with a one-two to the body.
Matsui gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Peers counters with a good low kick that Matsui was not able to check.
Matsui takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Peers throws a wild body kick that Matsui sees coming a mile off.
Peers throws a sloppy head kick and Matsui moves out of range easily.
Peers swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Peers counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Matsui's guard now.

Matsui wants to stand and escape but Peers is having none of it.
Matsui is looking to stand back up but Peers counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Matsui.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Matsui can do anything to dispel that myth.

Peers decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Peers wants to clinch.

Matsui decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Matsui wants to control but Peers is keeping him busy.
Peers keeping control of the position.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Matsui walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Matsui has a takedown stuffed.
Matsui throws a leg kick but Peers sees it coming and checks it nicely.

and Peers counters with a takedown into side control.

Peers decides to stand back up. Peers steps back and let's Matsui get back to his feet.
Peers tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Matsui shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Peers counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
William Peers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Motoki Matsui.
Matsui wants to clinch.
Matsui avoids the head kick by Peers.
Peers throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Matsui looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Matsui looks to land a strike but Peers avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Matsui trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peers lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Matsui!
William Peers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Matsui gets back to half guard.
Matsui avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Peers.
Peers content to control rather than advance.

Peers prevents Matsui from improving his position.
Well, if Peers is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Peers is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Matsui is wriggling around trying to escape.
Peers is in the full mount, landing strikes.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Peers looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

William Peers showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Peers has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
