Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Martyn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bas Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Martyn comes to the cage accompanied by Live For The Moment. The crowd seem to be enjoying Rutten's choice of entrance music: Hero. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martyn pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Martyn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Rutten fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Rutten shoots in but Martyn avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Martyn bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Rutten moves in looking to clinch but Martyn pushes him off.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Martyn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rutten's waist but Rutten gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Martyn off to one side.

Rutten changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Martyn tries to avoid it but Rutten manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Martyn to the ground. Martyn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rutten shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Martyn's guard.
Martyn thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Martyn is looking for a triangle but Rutten pushes his legs off easily.

Martyn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rutten can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rutten really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martyn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Martyn had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rutten is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Martyn Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rutten's back instead.

Rutten is fighting off a takedown attempt but Martyn is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rutten to the mat. Rutten regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
