Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Markel Hamilton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Perry!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hamilton misses with a double jab.
Hamilton looks to score with a jab to the body but Perry is just out of range.
Perry looks for a takedown but Hamilton sprawls well.
Perry has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Perry swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hamilton swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hamilton tries to close the distance and clinch but Perry swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A punch combination from Hamilton misses.
Perry throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Hamilton could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hamilton rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Perry moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Perry shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Perry trying to control the position from guard on top but Hamilton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Perry's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Hamilton wants to stand but Perry is controlling the position.

Perry trying to control but Hamilton is working from the bottom.
Perry won't allow Hamilton to get back to his feet.
Hamilton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hamilton is breathing heavily.
Perry stands and throws Hamilton's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Hamilton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Perry on the ground.

Perry has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Perry looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Perry stands up out of the half guard.
Hamilton misses the jab.

Perry shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Perry slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Perry seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Perry is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Perry performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Perry decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Hamilton will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Perry fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Markel Hamilton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Perry.
Hamilton misses with a jab, cross combination.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Perry scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Perry works his foot free and advances to mount.
Perry won't let Hamilton get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Perry is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Perry extends the arm and Hamilton is forced to tap!
