Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brian Dean (ranked 1239 p4p, 2168 weight class) and George Pierre (ranked 163 p4p, 275 weight class). Brian Dean could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to George Pierre's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Dean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, George Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre sizes up Dean with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Dean jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Pierre fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dean sprawls well initially but Pierre persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Pierre looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dean with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Pierre throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Pierre slows the pace down in half guard.
Let's hope that Pierre has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Pierre thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dean avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pierre.
Pierre is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Dean reverses the position - he's now on top in Pierre's guard.
Pierre is pulling down on Dean's head to control his posture.

Pierre has a closed guard, preventing Dean from standing up.

Dean wants to stand but Pierre has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Pierre feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dean throws a shot from downtown. Pierre moves away and avoids it.

Dean tries to sprawl but Pierre drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Pierre content to control rather than advance.
Pierre works his foot free and advances to mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

George Pierre dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Pierre is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pierre content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Pierre slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Nice sprawl there from Dean as Pierre shoots in.
Dean avoids a punch combination nicely.
Brian Dean is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pierre shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dean is trying to defend but Pierre finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Dean lands a jab to Pierre's midsection.

Pierre changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dean looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Pierre prevents Dean from escaping the position.
Pierre sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Dean is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Pierre misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Dean regains half guard there - taking advantage of Pierre's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Pierre working Dean over with strikes.
Still in half guard, Pierre seems content to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

George Pierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Dean lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

It looks like George Pierre has been cut.

Dean misses with a looping right.

Pierre closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Dean's guard.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dean enables Pierre to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dean manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

George Pierre is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Dean throws a jab but it's blocked by Pierre.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Pierre! But no joy.

and Pierre counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

George Pierre comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Pierre winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
