The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McManus is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
McManus trying to control the action but Anstey is working from the bottom.

Anstey looking for submissions off his back.

Anstey is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but McManus pulls his head out easily.
McManus is looking to take a break and control but Anstey is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McManus will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

McManus tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Anstey.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
McManus thows a body shot but no joy.
McManus tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Anstey paws at him with a jab and circles away.

McManus moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Anstey shoots in but McManus avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sam McManus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McManus throws a head kick that misses.

McManus wants to clinch.
McManus moves in looking to clinch but Anstey pushes him off.
Horrible takedown by Anstey or perhaps it was just good defense by McManus which made him look bad.

McManus closes the distance and pushes Anstey back into the cage.

McManus throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

and Anstey counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McManus's guard now.
McManus is breathing heavily.

Anstey drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Anstey jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Anstey drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Anstey as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! McManus screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Anstey! Nice submission victory there!
