PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Reynolds (ranked 24446 p4p, 5382 weight class) and Arseth Oysten (ranked 662 p4p, 564 weight class). Oysten has chosen FREEZING MOON as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Reynolds!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Arseth Oysten!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oysten takes a kick to the side of the head.

It looks like Arseth Oysten has been cut.
Reynolds misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Reynolds throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Oysten tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Oysten closes the distance and clinches up with Reynolds, looking for a takedown. Oysten pushes Reynolds against the cage but Reynolds circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Oysten has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Reynolds looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Oysten!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Reynolds wants to control but Oysten is keeping him busy.
Oysten looks to move to half guard but instead Reynolds has passed into mount! Damn!
Oysten really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Reynolds can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Oysten is looking to escape.
Oysten manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Oysten actively working from the bottom here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Reynolds not doing much here.

Oysten is refusing to be controlled, as Reynolds sits in half guard.

Reynolds is looking for a kimura but Oysten is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Reynolds to get the leverage.
Still in half guard, Reynolds seems content to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reynolds trying to pass the guard but Oysten defending well.
Reynolds prevents Oysten from improving his position.
Oysten keeps trying to improve his position.
Oysten trying to get back to full guard but Reynolds takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Oysten wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Reynolds.
Oysten wants to hold on but Reynolds pushes him away.
Oysten tries to reverse the position but Reynolds maintains control.
Reynolds thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reynolds wants to control the pace but Oysten is squirming around nicely.
Oysten is trying desperately to improve position.
Reynolds looking to ground and pound but Oysten is blocking nicely.
Reynolds can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Oysten is looking to escape.
Oysten tries to hold on but Reynolds postures up.
Oysten is in all sorts of trouble here.
Oysten manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Oysten looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Reynolds lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Oysten is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Reynolds is tapping! Great win for Oysten!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Arseth Oysten!
An intense looking Arseth Oysten took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'Tap out? again? u need to train some BJJ stupid!'.
