Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Hearns (ranked 4377 p4p, 4629 weight class) and Golden Ryder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Golden Ryder!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Peter Branson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hearns throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ryder was covering up waiting for the punch and Hearns finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Ryder wants to sweep here but Hearns controlling him for the moment.
Ryder manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hearns manages to get himself to full guard.

Ryder controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hearns is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ryder slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hearns knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ryder on the ground.

Ryder has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hearns is proving hard to escape from.
Hearns can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ryder controls the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ryder is looking to stand up but Hearns won't let him.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hearns throws a shot from downtown. Ryder moves away and avoids it.
Ryder tries to land a leg kick but Hearns saw it coming and moves away.
Ryder pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A counter left hand to the body from Hearns misses its target.
Hearns shoots for a takedown but Ryder saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

It looks like Golden Ryder has been cut.
Ryder throws a leg kick but Hearns moved away.
Ryder fails with the takedown.
Ryder keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hearns is breathing heavily.

Hearns looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ryder keeping hold of Hearns's head, controlling as best he can.
Ryder gets full guard.
Ryder throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
Ryder manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hearns manages to get himself to full guard.

Ryder is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ryder's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Ryder is looking to stand up but Hearns won't let him.
Ryder engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Ryder sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hearns's guard.
Well, if Ryder is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Golden Ryder dominated that round.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Hearns moves out of range of the body kick.
Hearns avoids the head kick by Ryder.
Ryder pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hearns shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ryder but Ryder pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Tommy Hearns is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hearns moves out of range of the body kick.
Ryder throws a right and a left that both miss.
No luck for Hearns with that takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ryder drives through with a takedown into Hearns's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Hearns might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ryder closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hearns's guard.

Ryder is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Ryder wants to stand up but Hearns is controlling the position.
Hearns is looking for a sweep. Ryder is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ryder tries to stand but Hearns is controlling his head.
Ryder is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hearns will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Ryder is staying tight to Hearns's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ryder lands a decent elbow from side control.
Ryder controls the position.
Hearns gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ryder is working for a guillotine from mount but Hearns frees his head quite easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Golden Ryder showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Hearns blocks a head kick by Ryder.
Hearns fails with the takedown.
Hearns shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ryder pinned against the cage. Ryder gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Golden Ryder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ryder misses with a head kick.
Ryder shoots in for a double leg but Hearns sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hearns appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Ryder clinches up with Hearns and pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ryder keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hearns's efforts to push away.
Ryder can't break the clinch.
Hearns is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ryder to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Hearns. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ryder wants the takedown. Hearns is fighting it off but Ryder persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hearns's guard against the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ryder is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ryder stays in close to Hearns's body and controls the position.
Hearns is trying to control the position but Ryder postures up.
Ryder is working Hearns over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ryder's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Ryder thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ryder slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Ryder shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hearns trying to control from the bottom.

Ryder is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hearns doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ryder.
Hearns on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hearns tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ryder lands with a punch from half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hearns is in trouble now - Ryder has advanced to mount!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ryder cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Well Ryder has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
